Two detained after child fatally shot in Seattle’s Magnolia Neighborhood

SEATTLE — Police say a child was shot and killed Wednesday night in Seattle’s Magnolia Neighborhood.

Around 6:30 p.m., Seattle Police were called to a report of a shooting in the 3000 block of 21st Avenue West.

When officers arrived at the scene, a woman told police her child had been shot. Seattle Fire Department medics pronounced the child dead at the scene.

At least one neighbor who lives nearby said that he thought it was an argument at first and saw a man speed off in a car.

“I was in my townhouse and I heard four bangs outside and didn’t know what it was. I kind of went about my day and headed to the gym. Now I’m finding out there’s a crime scene in front of my house,” he said.

Officers from the SPD homicide and crime scene investigation units were called in.

Police detained two people who were being interviewed by detectives.

What led up to the shooting is under investigation.
